Role Summary
The University of Nicosia invites applications for UNIC Athens Campus for the role of Facilities Technician. This role will support the efficient, safe, and uninterrupted operation of all UNIC Athens buildings, facilities, and grounds. The position involves daily inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and prompt response to technical issues. The Facilities Technician will contribute to maintaining a high-quality environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by ensuring that campus facilities remain functional, safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of campus facilities, both indoor and outdoor, to identify and report maintenance, operational, or safety issues.
- Perform minor repair and maintenance tasks, including door adjustments, lighting replacements, basic plumbing repairs, air-conditioning checks, furniture repairs, painting touch-ups, and other general technical works.
- Support the Facilities Manager in implementing preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, electrical installations, plumbing systems, fire safety equipment, elevators, and other building infrastructure.
- Monitor the proper functioning of building systems and equipment and report any abnormalities or failures.
- Ensure the proper operation, activation, and shutdown of systems such as lighting, air-conditioning, alarms, and other building services as required.
- Liaise with and supervise external contractors, technicians, and service providers when specialized maintenance or repairs are required.
- Provide operational support for University events, conferences, ceremonies, examinations, and other campus activities, including the preparation, set-up, monitoring, and closing of venues, furniture movements, equipment installation, room configurations, and the restoration of facilities to their normal condition following the completion of events.
- Maintain accurate records and logbooks of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, equipment servicing, and contractor visits.
- Monitor the condition and appearance of outdoor areas, entrances, pathways, parking facilities, landscaping, and signage to ensure a professional campus environment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures and immediately report any hazards, defects, or safety concerns.
- Support emergency response actions relating to technical failures, power outages, leaks, equipment malfunctions, security incidents, or other operational disruptions.
- Assist in monitoring inventories of maintenance materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and campus operational efficiency.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager to support the effective operation of the University.
