Summary

Anatolia American University employs Program Assistants to support student engagement, cultural integration, community development and programming across Residence Life.

The Program Assistant serves as a primary contributor to the residential student experience, focusing on relationship building, student support, and structured programming initiatives.

Program Assistants are assigned to a specific residence building and act as bridges between the Residence Life community by holding defined programming and community engagement responsibilities, with measurable reporting expectations that ensure accountability and consistency across the residential system.

Program Assistants participate in a structured on-call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, and are expected to respond promptly to urgent situations as they arise. Due to the live-in nature of the position, the Program Assistant must be available to respond to emergencies at any time.

  • Start Date: August 18, 2026
  • Definite Duration, Full Time employment terms which are Semester-Based (Fall, Spring, Summer) and renewable upon performance and need
  • Two-week Staff Training in June

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Residence Life

  • Build strong, supportive student communities
  • Live in Anatolia Housing throughout the duration of the contract and maintain daily visibility and availability to residents.
  • Serve as a liaison for Anatolia University, ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and consistency in communication.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff training sessions and regular team meetings.
  • Participate in rotational reception coverage duties twice per week, while supporting bus monitoring.
  • Design, plan and implement structured programming initiatives that promote engagement, inclusion, and student development.

Community Development and Programming

  • Ensure regular programming cadence within the assigned building.
  • Collaborate with RO’s, other PA’s, the Student Activities Office, or the SGA to support campus wide initiatives and shared events.
  • Maintain accurate records of program planning, attendance, and outcomes.
  • Support logistical needs for programming, including space coordination, materials preparation, and communication.
  • Chaperone trips and activities as required.

Student Support and Engagement

  • Conduct intentional outreach to residents, including check ins and informal engagement.
  • Assist students in transitioning successfully to life in Thessaloniki and within the Anatolia community.
  • Chaperone students to service learning placements and residence permit appointments as required.
  • Identify student concerns and escalate appropriately through established reporting structures.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive residential environment aligned with the university values.
  • Serve as a positive role model within the community.

Safety, Crisis Management, and Policy Enforcement

  • Participate in the on call rotation and respond promptly to health, safety, or other emergencies.
  • Enforce housing policies and university regulations consistently and professionally.
  • Document incidents thoroughly and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Follow established institutional emergency response protocols, working within a defined reporting tree that includes the Senior Officer, Head of Student Life, and Director of Security.

Community Standards and Supervision

  • Uphold residential community expectations and foster a supportive, safe environment
  • Address conflicts or policy concerns appropriately, referring complex issues to the Senior Officer
  • Serve as a role model for residents through professionalism, engagement, and ethical conduct.

Communication and Outreach

  • Organize and promote events through posters, digital platforms, and announcements.
  • Create social media content and support communication efforts when needed.
  • Gather content and assist in documenting programs and events.

Performance Metrics

Program Assistant performance will be evaluated on:

  • Contribution to overall student satisfaction of the given cohort.
  • Delivery of consistent, high quality programming within the assigned building.
  • Resident engagement indicators (participation rates, outreach efforts, feedback).
  • Timely documentation of incidents and compliance with policy enforcement procedures.
  • Participation in on-call rotation and adherence to emergency protocols.
  • Collaboration with residential staff and contribution to overall building standards.
  • Reliability in fulfilling assigned reception coverage and operational responsibilities.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Must have completed at least 1 year of college.
  • Must be in good academic standing if the applicant is a current student.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate in English and Greek. Additional languages are valued but not required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well both in a team and individually.
  • Leadership and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to use authority with good judgment.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate crisis situations and respond appropriately.
  • IT Skills: Advanced knowledge of the Google Suite required. Canva and photo editing skills preferred.
  • Photography.
  • Possess effective communication skills in order to successfully approach people and establish good rapport with them, mediate conflict situations and to enforce College and housing policies.

Required Experience

  • Experience working with people is preferred.
  • Experience living within a group setting is preferred.
  • Experience planning or coordinating events is preferred.
  • Experience handling emergency situations is preferred.
