Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization, based in the United States, providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Job Summary

The HR Officer will be responsible for managing many aspects of human resources support to the Samaritan’s Purse (SP) office in North Greece. S/he will be required to maintain ongoing personnel records for staff, and ensure human resource legal issues are effectively communicated to the Area Coordinator. The HR Officer will need to maintain excellent working relationships with both project managers and senior management staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively liaise with hiring manager in identification of staffing gaps.

§  Prepare recruitment plans and coordinate the process in accordance with SP policy.

  • Maintain and update personnel records, keeping full, accurate and confidential information on all staff.
  • Track staff leave and attendance records, guiding management in planning, appropriate action and efficient working practices where necessary.
  • Track and report payroll to Athens HR for all staff in the respective region.
  • Ensure staff welfare, safety and health are maintained and maximized where possible.
  • Remain up-to-date on employment legislation and statutory requirements related to HR.
  • Coordinate with Government agencies at location of work as needed.
  • Ensure Samaritan’s Purse is working in accordance with Greek Labor Laws and employment requirements for location of work.
  • Keep informed of changes in the employment market, advising management of necessary changes to policy or benefits where required.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of organizational policies, and arrange regular staff meetings to reinforce positive behavior, address issues, communicate information and receive feedback on management decisions.
  • Communicate new procedures, policies and guidelines as indicated in the HR Manual and as updated by the HR Manager.
  • Ensure all HR issues are dealt with in a timely manner and all staff grievances are addressed appropriately.
  • Manager the performance management cycle for the location of work.
  • Develop and coordinate new staff orientation with Athens HR.
  • Distribute, collect, and process new-hire paperwork. Also make sure new employees have an employee badge, read the employee handbook, and sign all appropriate documentation.
  • Be intentional about finding creative ways to support staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Area Coordinator.

Education / Experience Needed

§  Bachelor’s Degree in related field or one or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

Ability to read and interpret documents in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Greek language skills required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
