Senior Accountant (accomodation provided)

One of the leading companies in the incoming tourism in Greece, is looking for an experienced senior accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying the financial transactions of the Santorini office. 

Responsibilities
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results month and year-end
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Perform credit control of customers, suppliers, external associates, etc.
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance and perform tax audits and tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles Operate as representative to local public authorities (IKA, DOY, etc.)
- Liaise smoothly with Financial and Accounting manager in Athens in order to improve financial procedures 

- BSc in Accounting, Finance or a relevant field.
- Postgraduate degree (MSc, MBA) is preferable but not essential.
- Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- 5 years of minimum experience working as an accountant, preferable in a business industry.
- Proven experience of minimum 2 years as financial controller, accounting supervisor or senior accountant.
- Previous experience in tourism industry is preferable.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements and awareness of business trends.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Proficiency in MS Office package (Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written; Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary languages used in the workplace (Greek, English)
