Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Steward to lead our stewarding team and oversee all aspects of dishwashing, sanitation, and cleanliness within our upscale restaurant and beach club. As the Head Steward, you will be responsible for managing the stewarding staff, coordinating with kitchen and service teams, and upholding the impeccable standards of cleanliness and presentation that define our establishment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the stewarding team, including dishwashers and kitchen porters, to ensure the timely and efficient cleaning of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and service ware.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules, procedures, and protocols to maintain the highest standards of sanitation and hygiene in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage to support efficient operations.
- Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to facilitate the smooth flow of dirty dishes, glassware, and utensils to and from the dining areas, ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and dining areas to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with cleanliness and safety standards.
- Train and mentor stewarding staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety procedures, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Collaborate with other department heads and management to address any issues or concerns related to cleanliness, sanitation, or equipment maintenance.
- Act as a liaison between stewarding staff and management, communicating effectively to ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, and goals.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a stewarding or supervisory role within an upscale restaurant, hotel, or similar establishment.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve excellence in cleanliness and sanitation.
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safety protocols in a food service environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to support the needs of our operation.
