The Head Bartender is an essential member of the Food & Beverage team dedicated to providing exceptional quality and service to our guests. This position provides hotel guests and servers with quick and efficient beverage service with a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar. The Executive Bartender of Avaton Luxury Beach Hotel is Marco Maiorano, who is a senior bartender at the Scarfes Bar in London, one of the World's Best Bars. 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide an enjoyable, expertly served beverage or dining experience conforming to Relais & Chateaux standards of excellence for quality, professionalism, and friendliness
  • Prepare and serve a selection of wines, spirits, and mixed drinks from the menu while ensuring proper pouring, mixing, and blending (use of sous vide, homemade infusions, juices and sodas, preparation of clear ice, fat wash technique)
  • Confirm guest orders including any special needs or requests from the lounge server using the hotel’s point-of-sales system; check completed orders with the guest’s original order
  • Take orders from guests seated at the bar and lounge area offering interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item’s, origin, taste, and preparation methods; maintain a working knowledge of liquors, wines, beers, ports, Armagnac, eau de vies, cognacs, and specialty drinks
  • Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests
  • Prepare and present bills accurately and perform all duties related to bar closing shifts
  • Maintain the appropriate levels of beverage stocks by monitoring purchases and sales, ensuring professional, efficient, and accurate service of all types of beverages following the recipes in standards, in order to completely satisfy our guests during their experience
  • Ensure that the cellar is kept stocked, clean and in the appropriate operational order at all times
  • Monitor that the bar equipment and wine basket, decanters, and ice bucket with stands are kept clean and in order
  • Perform additional service side duties when needed
  • Greet and seat guests in a professional manner and take reservations, when needed
  • Assist in setting and clearing tables neatly, rapidly, and completely according to specification
  • Assist in the breakdown, cleaning, and set-up of buffets and food stations
Our Ideal Bartender will have:
  • A minimum of two years of food service experience in a similar role (5* hotel or fine dining restaurant)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an outgoing personality, and a can-do approach to any request
  • Creativity, initiative, and teamwork approach are required
  • Organization

  • Can do approach
  • Extensive knowledge of drink mixing and garnishing (WSPC 2 or 3 on spirits, beverages & cocktails is preferred)
  • Proficiency in using POS
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the Greek and English language.
