Energy Management Portfolio Engineer

ManpowerGroup of behalf of Elpedison is looking for an Energy Management Portfolio Engineer

The Energy Management Portfolio Engineer will play an important role, supporting the company’s power plants’ bidding activity, the short-term trading activity and the wholesale short term natural gas needs. The position refers to the Energy Management Division.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects within the real-time trading environment by conducting hourly purchase and sales transactions in an optimal and economical manner
• Execute the company’s sales Strategy of the wholesale Day Ahead/Intraday/Balancing Power Markets
• Communicate in Daily basis with company’s Power Plants staff to obtain production availability
• Continually communicate all necessary information to appropriate internal and external parties/personnel
• Monitor the real time marketplace and react to operational business constraints
• Monitor results of dispatch operations and suggest/implement improvement opportunities
• Monitor the contractual arrangements associated with power plants operation, Natural Gas and electricity market conditions relevant to the short-term wholesale Market,
• Develop scenarios to better understand how key drivers will affect, Day Ahead /Intraday/Balancing markets outcomes
• Produce daily/weekly/monthly reports on market results, trends and statistics
• Investigate and make improvements to market models and algorithms
• Ability to work rotating shifts of 8 hours, weekends and holidays and be on-call

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology or Applied Economics
• 2-3 years of relevant work experience within Electric Power sector will be considered as an asset
• Ιn-depth working knowledge of Excel and Modelling skills with a particular focus on VBA
• In-depth working knowledge of Statistics & Technical Analysis
• Fluency in written & Verbal English
• Strong analytical skills, ability to understand business situations and provide data analysis. Experience with data analysis tools would be an added advantage
• Self-motivation, ability to exercise initiative and adhere to strict deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
