Research Engineer

PRISMA ELECTRONICS SA, an innovative high-technology company active in Electronics, Space, Defense, IT, Telecommunications and Energy, with presence in Alexandroupolis, Athens and London, is seeking a Research Engineer to join its R&D team.

Research Engineer

The role covers the full research and innovation lifecycle, from developing research ideas and proposals to project execution, technical documentation, scientific communication and dissemination of results. Our R&D activities focus on IoT and connected technologies, hardware and embedded systems, software development and AI-enabled solutions, with applications in defense, maritime and space.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new research and innovation ideas and identify relevant European, national and other R&D funding opportunities.

• Contribute to, and depending on experience take ownership of, research proposal preparation and submission, including project concept, objectives, methodology, work plan, expected outcomes and impact.

• Support the formation of research partnerships and consortia and collaborate with internal engineering teams and external research and industrial partners.

• Contribute to the execution of R&D projects, including requirements definition, use cases, CONOPS, system-level specifications and technical documentation.

• Prepare and review technical and scientific deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements, and contribute to the evaluation of prototypes, demonstrators and other technical outputs.

• Support dissemination and exploitation activities, scientific papers, technical publications and presentations at conferences, workshops, project meetings and technical reviews.

• Depending on technical background, contribute to software, hardware or system-level engineering activities.

The ideal candidate combines scientific rigor, strong technological understanding, initiative, ownership, problem-solving ability and attention to detail, and can transform complex or ambiguous ideas into structured, well-documented work.

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or another relevant technical/scientific discipline.

• Previous exposure to research and innovation projects in industry or academia.

• Strong scientific, technical and analytical writing skills, with experience in technical documentation, research reports, scientific publications or project deliverables.

• Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate effectively with technical specialists.

• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent written and verbal English.

• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary and international teams

Highly Desirable

• Experience with collaborative funded R&D projects, including proposal preparation and project execution.

• Experience with European R&I projects such as Horizon Europe, or comparable national/international funding frameworks.

• PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional research experience.

• Previous experience in an industrial R&D department, research organization or technologyfocused environment.

• Experience in requirements engineering, system architecture, CONOPS, use cases or other system-level activities.

• Experience preparing and reviewing technical project deliverables.

• Experience with dissemination and exploitation activities.

• Peer-reviewed scientific publications and/or conference presentation experience.

• Technical knowledge or hands-on experience in software development, hardware/electronic design or system engineering.
