MAKRIS Athens by Domes
Domes Resorts lands in Athens, introducing our first degustation restaurant in Thissio. Our talented, Michelin Starred Chef Patron Petros Dimas, alongside with a team of culinary experts will create the ultimate fine dining experience based on Greek creative cuisine.
We are currently hiring for Athens, looking for a highly energetic and passionate Sommelier, joining our team at Makris Athens by Domes.
Sommelier
The Role:
The Sommelier at Domes Resorts should be a trained and knowledgeable wine professional specializing in all aspects of wine service, wine and food pairing, and wine selection. With previous experience in fine dining restaurants, hotels, or resorts, the sommelier curates an exceptional beverage experience for Makris’ guests.
Some of the responsibilities:
Customer Interaction and Education:
- Recommend food and wine pairings
- Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
- Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices
- Answers guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines
Operational Services:
- Update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager
- Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
- Store open bottles properly to maintain strong taste
- Manage the wine cellar and ensure its fully stocked
- Updates and maintains wine list and MICROS system
- Issues, opens, and serves wine/champagne bottles
- Suggests and implements wine promotions and incentive programs
- Monitors and replenishes inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware
- Train wait staff on available wines
Health, Safety, and Legal Compliance:
- Ensure that all wine services comply with local laws and regulations regarding the sale and service of alcohol
- Ensure that wines are stored properly in accordance with health and safety regulations, including keeping wine at the correct temperature and avoiding any exposure to elements that may affect quality
