About the role

The Bellman assists with the delivery and collection of guests’ luggage, parcels, faxes, messages, etc. He also assists in keeping the lobby tidy and ensure all guests receive prompt, cordial and efficient attention and service throughout their stay. Bellman is responsible for the first & last impression about arrival departure experiences accordingly. Bellman utilizes buggies for luggage delivery, ensuring that buggies are kept in a perfect condition. Bellman will be acting also as valet and be responsible for safely parking the guests and external visitor’s cars and ensure all cars are parked and unparked with extreme care as per the procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Always well-groomed and immaculately presented in a clean uniform.
  • Helping to create a friendly and welcoming environment, by greeting visitors and guests.
  • Dealing with guest arrivals and departures as per LQA & Forbes standards, complying with the hotel’s policies.
  • Offering car door assistance and assisting in calling taxis
  • Assist guests in giving them directions and providing important information about the hotel.
  • Respond to all guests needs quickly, efficiently, and courteously.
  • To be aware of all functions, conferences and special events taking place in the Resort
  • Assist Security in monitoring for suspicious activity.
  • Participate in required training related to the job.
  • Follow LQA & Forbes standards related to Guest Services department.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain a favorable working relationship with colleges at all levels.
  • Always assure a professional attitude towards guests and colleagues
  • Ensure the constant flow of information through all areas.
  • Ensure all relevant information is always communicated to all team members.
  • Assist and participate in all communication meetings in order to discuss all new changes and practices taking place and discuss any problems or suggestions in the department.
  • Apply and adhere to rules and regulations as per employee handbook, departmental and hotel policies, and procedures, including those for emergency situations.
  • Use buggies for guest’s movements and luggage delivery when required.
  • Ensure buggies are kept in a good condition. In case of any technical issues, information is passed to Guest Services Team Leader and Management.

  • Practice proper telephone etiquette with colleagues and hotel guests
  • Ensure prompt, accurate and courteous delivery and collection of any luggage, parcels, or mail.
  • Ensure correct and secure storage procedures are always followed.
  • Be fully familiar with the room types and the hotel.
  • Proceed with the rooming of guests when necessary.
  • Prompt delivery of both local and international newspapers
  • Make sure that the trolleys are clean, and the storeroom is kept tidy and free of debris.
  • Assist with the Doorman’s duties when they are not available.
  • Be familiar with all facilities and services within the hotel and offer general information as required.
  • Work night shifts when required.
  • Prepare and act on additional duties outside of job description as and when necessary.
  • Provide immediate assistance to guests as requested.
  • To assist with any other duties as required by the management team.
  • Assist guests with opening/closing vehicle doors.
  • Welcome guests and visitors with appropriate greetings of the day.
  • Able to communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
  • Tag guest vehicle keys with date & time, make/model and guest name.                                                                                                
  • Able to effectively park and retrieve guests’ cars without causing damage to the vehicle.
  • Able to provide guests with information regarding property facilities, amenities, services, hours of operation.
  • Able to provide guests with direction and local areas of interest and activities.
  • Ensure vehicles are legally parked in the designated parking areas and to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of traffic.
  • Valet parking of guest cars and ensuring the keys are securely stored.
  • Ensure all guests’ valet experience are memorable, unique and as per the hotel's standards.
  • Document and report all vehicle incidents like damage, accidents, theft, missing articles etc.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or manager.
  • Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas, portico and behind the valet stand.
  • Responsible to report any security or safety problems, safety hazards and potential security problems to the supervisors.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and very good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Previous customer related experience an asset
  • Strong human relations skills with both employees and guests
  • Must have a driver’s license.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
