The Night
Auditor is the overnight guardian of the Front Office: ensuring financial
accuracy, smooth operations, and consistent, attentive guest service. Through
diligence, professionalism, and composure, the Night Auditor transforms routine
overnight procedures into seamless guest experiences.
Role Overview
The Night
Auditor oversees all Front Office operations during night shifts.
Responsibilities include guest check-ins/check-outs, reservation management,
cash handling, daily financial reporting, and coordination with other
departments to ensure uninterrupted service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Service & Operations
Conduct check-ins, check-outs,
and manage reservations.
Handle guest inquiries, phone
calls, and emergencies with discretion.
Maintain a welcoming,
professional presence at the front desk throughout the shift.
Coordinate with other
departments (Housekeeping, F&B, Security) for guest needs.
2. Financial Duties & Reporting
Reconcile daily transactions,
verify guest accounts, and ensure cash accuracy.
Complete End of Day (EOD)
procedures and issue daily financial reports.
Prepare documentation and
summaries for the next day’s operations.
3. Systems, SOPs & Administration
Operate OPERA Cloud and other
Front Office systems accurately.
Log discrepancies, incident
reports, and relevant notes for management.
Maintain compliance with
internal SOPs regarding financial and guest operations.
4. Team Coordination & Shift Handover
Communicate updates, special
requests, or VIP information to day staff.
Ensure smooth handover to the
morning Front Office team.
Maintain order, cleanliness,
and presentation standards of the front desk area.
5. Suggested Staffing (Night Shift)
1 Night Auditor per night (full
coverage)
Collaboration with Security and
minimal FO staff for handover support if needed
6. Systems & SOP Expectations
OPERA Cloud: accurate postings,
room transfers, check closing.
Cash handling: zero-tolerance
for errors, proper reconciliation and logging.
Reporting: End of Day (EOD)
reports, guest account summaries, incident logs.
SOPs: guest interactions,
emergency procedures, data accuracy, and handover protocols.
