Location: Athens International Airport
Skyserv Ground Handling Services is looking for an experienced and dedicated Environmental and Sustainability Specialist, who can ensure that the organization is operating in accordance with environmental guidelines and targets. This role focuses primarily on achieving the necessary day to day compliance with regulations and reporting to authorities and in addition contribute to minimizing the environmental impact of ground operations through initiatives that promote sustainable practices across all functions.
Duties and responsibilities
- Establish and implement environmental policies, practices and action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable development.
- Conduct internal environmental audits and compliance reviews, set and monitor KPIs and provide continuous training to corporate personnel and functions.
- Prepare and ensure the on-time reporting to third parties such as the online governmental platforms or Airports’ feedback forms in relation to waste and dangerous goods management.
- Ensure the on-time preparation for ISO 14001 and 50001 audits and supporting documentation.
- Prepare internal environmental assessments and reports regarding risks and mitigation measures, relevant investments and technology applications, forthcoming changes in regulations, lessons learned.
- Suggest strategies for enhanced stakeholder and community engagement, prepare performance publications and green marketing initiatives, suggest relevant actions that support customer experience.
- Monitoring resource use to ensure it complies with waste management and recycling policies.
- Develop robust plans to address to Senior Management the most significant environmental aspects facing the aviation industry today.
- Submit and manage all the necessary studies related to infrastructure, buildings' and facilities' environmental regulation compliance, necessary licensing, planning of emissions reduction and energy optimization, LEED certification, e-mobility as applicable.
- Negotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated costs and revenues.
- Participate closely and follow up on IATA, ICAO, EASA, HCAA and other governmental agencies’ requirements, regulations and best practices.
- Communicate with the remote stations, perform site visits and checks and provide guidance and troubleshooting as per EMS policies for fast response.
Requirements and skills
- University Degree.
- 3+ years of experience in Environmental and Sustainability related role.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental policies and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and understanding of industrial processes, aviation and energy markets.
- Ability to develop innovative project ideas for reducing environmental impact.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively to meet deadlines and user needs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize daily workload and meet strict deadlines.
- Fluency in Greek and English.
- Motivated, detailed and goal oriented.
