About the role:

The Sous Chef assists in managing all aspects of the kitchen operation, including food preparation, supervision of kitchen staff, and adherence to health and safety standards. The Sous Chef works closely with the Head Chef to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen, efficient service, and high quality of food.

Requirements

Key accountabilities

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating all activities of the kitchen team
  • Ensure high culinary standards and presentation of food
  • Assist in the creation and development of new menu items
  • Manage and control inventory and cost of food
  • Maintain hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen
  • Assist in training and development of kitchen staff

Skills & expertise

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as Sous Chef, preferably in hospitality or fine dining
  • Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or related field
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
