Based at Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino within the Engineering Department in Pylos, Messenia, Greece, the Director of Engineering leads and manages the engineering team, ensuring effective scheduling, training, and performance evaluation. The Director of Engineering reports to the General Manager.
As Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including regular inspections and audits
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for outsourced maintenance, repairs, and renovation projects
- Monitor energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce costs
- Manage the engineering budget, controlling costs while maintaining service quality
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, minimizing downtime and guest inconvenience
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment logs, and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with other departments to support refurbishments, new installations, and technical upgrades
- Ensure the safety and functionality of all technical systems to provide a secure and comfortable environment for guests and colleagues
- Act as the Company’s legal representative for Health & Safety matters arising from engineering, maintenance, facilities, and infrastructure operations
