Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer

A leading, fast-growing European FinTech and digital banking entity is seeking a highly-skilled and experienced Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer. This strategic role, based in Athens, Greece, is crucial for professionals with a strong legal background who can bridge complex financial regulations with cutting-edge technology, including the successful integration of AI and innovative solutions across the organization. You'll be a vital part of the Legal and Compliance leadership team.

The Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing expert guidance and implementing robust compliance frameworks across the business. This includes:

• Regulatory Advisory: Serving as the primary expert for regulatory compliance advice to Senior Management, business owners, and product teams
• Regulatory Monitoring: Proactively capturing and monitoring all legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business (e.g., PSD2, CRR, CRD, DORA, CBPR), assessing ensuing legal risks, and developing compliance roadmaps
• Liaison & Reporting: Acting as the key point of contact with external legal advisers and local regulatory/supervisory authorities
• Compliance Framework: Designing, monitoring, and leading the implementation of the annual compliance plan, conducting ad-hoc compliance audits, and identifying control gaps
• Policy Management: Drafting and reviewing the company's policies and procedures and supporting their successful roll-out across the organization
• Risk Management: Conducting formal compliance and legal risk assessments, and developing/maintaining a formal risk-and-control program to mitigate, monitor, and report risk appropriately
• Internal Alignment: Liaising with other internal control functions (Audit, Risk) to ensure full alignment and scheduled cooperation
• Governance Reporting: Preparing and presenting comprehensive reports on compliance matters for the Board of Directors and various company committees
• Regulatory Submissions: Preparing and/or coordinating the submission of required regulatory reports to competent authorities

To be considered for this Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer role, candidates should have:

• Five (5) years of professional experience in a regulatory compliance, legal, audit, or risk function
• University degree in Law. A Master's degree (especially in European Banking/Payments Regulation, Risk Management, or related fields) is a strong advantage
• In-depth knowledge of Greek and EU financial services regulations, particularly those governing payments and banking (PSD2, CRR, CRD, DORA, etc.)
• Direct interaction and working experience with financial services regulators is considered a significant plus
• Familiarity and experience with AI-driven legal and compliance tools (e.g., AI-based legal research, contract review automation) and comfort collaborating effectively with technology teams
