About the role:

The EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) Lead directs the day-to-day operations in all aspects related to safety and environment. You will ensure effective safety and environmental support and advice to management in the areas of safety, emergency response management, and all environmental matters.
As the Safety Engineer you'll ensure that operations in all functional areas within the site are carried out according to Greek and EU legislation and J&J Consumer Health expectations and standards for all matters regarding safety and the environment.
You’ll be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS management systems and programs; the active promotion of a strong site environmental awareness and safety culture; the collection, reporting and analysis of key metrics; and ensuring appropriate training is provided to all site employees.

Main responsibilities:

The job holder will be directly reporting to EHS Cluster Lead and Site Lead, having the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Partners with Site Leadership team to develop and implement an EHS Strategy & tactics to address EHS program deficiencies and ensure EHS regulatory compliance
  • Collaborates with site leadership team to strategic objectives for improving the site’s safety and environmental performance, or specific improvement actions and/or corrective measures; Audits, analyzes, documents, and reports on their implementation and effectiveness to leadership via dashboards, reports & management reviews; Conducts incident investigations by determining the nature and cause of injury, illness or accidents and making recommendations for correction of deficiencies and/or corrective action plans in accordance with associated rules, regulations, or directives
  • Carrying out risk assessments, assessing workplace hazards, considering how risks could be reduced, formulating preventative measures including safe working procedures/safe systems of work and monitoring conformance
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Serves as a key contact with relevant government agencies; regulators and EHS groups on new developments and undertakes to complete all necessary reporting to these bodies
  • Responsible for site EHS department including budget (Cost & CAPEX)
  • Maintains local ISO certifications by ensuring site EHS management systems are aligned & maintained consistent with ISO and/or program standards
  • Collaborates with operational functional leads, EHS regional leaders and business unit leaders on EHS issues relative to major proposals/operations/services/activities/plans and the implementation of key projects
  • Develops and maintains an Emergency Response Plan and ensures that drills and reviews are conducted as schedules. Tackles the role as Incident Commander/Plant Emergency Officer in the event of crisis

Απαραίτητα Προσόντα

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering science
  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS position, ideally in a regulated environment (GMP and ISO)
  • Sound knowledge of EHS legislation and standards
  • Familiar with EHS Management systems (ISO 14001)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Great interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly proactive, mature judgment and decision-making ability
  • Proficient user of MS Office suite
  • Fluency in the English language (verbal and oral)
