The Long-Term Energy Planner role focuses primarily on helping to implement the organizational energy long-term business and secondarily to support the desk’s commodities trading activities. As part of the responsibilities, the role will involve active participation in the development of analytics and infrastructure. The candidate should be highly analytical with competency in data analysis, math and statistics.
Responsibilities:
• Perform quantitative analysis in order to provide rolling forecasts, mid-term plans and strategic planning of the company.
• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
• Estimate productions and economics for company’s asset portfolio.
• Assist the development and creation of medium and long-term strategies that help the company to achieve power business and development objectives.
• Participate in process for retail/wholesale hedge portfolio.
• Analyze sets of data to quantify profit and support decision-making related to company’s portfolio.
• Regularly interact with other teams within the organization to discuss strategies, business implications, and market developments, which affect the power business.
• Monitor weather, load, price behavior, transmission constraints/outages, and generation outages to identify risks to the company position and take appropriate actions to mitigate portfolio risk.

Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering
• 2-3 years of experience as a Data Scientist/Analyst
• Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
• Strong quantitative, analytic, modelling, pricing and risk management skills
• Experience with programming in R and/or Python, scripting and/or statistical software strongly preferred.
• Interest in applying technology and/or quantitative skills to solve complex trading problems
• Understanding of electric markets is desirable
• Novelty seeking mind-set
• Self-driven and motivated
• Ability to communicate effectively across multiple teams and functions
• Previous experience in similar position is advantageous
