About the role

Our in-house development team ensures we lead the way in providing the most innovative booking experience in the travel industry. We are looking for a Mobile Developer with experience building apps for both Android and iOS and significant experience developing with React Native. Working with a small, growing team of experienced engineers you'll be a key player in developing new features and creating an excellent experience for our mobile users. In this position, you'll be expected to translate designs and wireframes into high quality code, write and maintain features of our mobile applications, implement new ideas to improve our products and exhibit a solid understanding of mobile design patterns.


Responsibilities

  • Build hybrid mobile applications with React Native development for iOS and Android platforms
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Develop new features and perform unit testing
  • Integrate with existing software systems
  • Document processes and development projects
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries
  • Work in Agile methodologies
  • Develop and maintain currency of understanding of Excite’s range of applications and impact of new developments
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace
  • Take reasonable care to ensure their own safety and health of others, not place others at risk by any act or omission
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may be required

The Ideal Candidate

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years React Native professional experience required
  • Proficient with React Native for Android and iOS platforms
  • Experience with React Navigation and Redux, Flux or other state management utilities
  • Solid understanding of the React lifecycle
  • Experience in designing and developing secure mobile applications with features like chat, voice command, content sharing etc.
  • Experience with data persistence solution for mobile like Firebase, iCloud, Realm, Twilio Sync, SQL Lite and offline storage
  • Experience writing automated tests
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Experience with JSX, JavaScript and its nuances including ES6 + syntax
  • Experience with Git version control (ability to feature branch, merge, pull, push)
  • Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode, Gradle (Android Studio, WebStorm)
  • Understanding of the various design patterns used in mobile development and how to implement them
  • Understanding of mobile analytics and services like push notifications
  • Familiar with releasing apps to the App Store and Google Play
  • Demonstrable previous work (or passion projects) required
  • Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Fulfilled military obligations
