CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Solicit and contract new business opportunities with consistent business development tactics to maximize guestroom, meeting, and F&B sales.
- Implement a targeted and direct strategic plan to penetrate specific markets within group market as directed supervisor.
- Work closely with the supervisor to develop and achieve outlined objectives.
- Ensure all promotion and distribution channels are fully exploited within travel agencies and target markets to maximize domestic and international sales opportunities.
- Conduct creative site inspections with on-site clients.
- Respond to RFPs and creative proposals within 24 hours.
- Use superb time management skills and effective communication with customers and coworkers.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
- Promote positive relations with guests and employees.
- Maintain high level of knowledge of the competition’s product.
- Maintain file base in Delphi, including group status (prospect, tentative, definite and turned down), applicable BEOs, and other information to liaise with other hotel departments.
- Create action plans on a quarterly basis or as requested by supervisor.
- Achieve or exceed assigned quarterly financial goals in, rooms and room rental.
- Positively contribute to the achievement of overall hotel goals in ADR, Occupancy, and RevPAR.
- Achieve the assigned target goals for proactive sales efforts (i.e., site inspections, prospecting calls, etc.).
- Create an annual travel calendar that supports the marketing/business plan as well as quarterly action plans.
- Plan and prepare appointments for sales trips. Create pre-trip and post-trip reports in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Ensure financial success of the hotel by ensuring that all bookings are profitable for the entire hotel.
- Provide feedback to the Director of Sales on changing conditions, including trends in the competition, as a result of direct solicitation in their market areas.
SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS
In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the candidate is expected to complete the following duties:
- Constantly communicate with all other department heads both verbally and in written form.
- Be on property as needed while events are being executed to ensure client needs and requests are adhered to.
- Perform special projects or assignments based on guest’s needs or market demands.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four year college degree preferred. Minimum two years in sales capacity in a comparable hotel/resort. Additional experience in events, rooms, and/or reservations preferred. Expertise gained working in a service and quality centric environment is preferred and considered an asset. Knowledge of Newmarket Delphi software and Hotel Intelligence software preferred.
