Power Plant Operations Manager-Thrace (Ref. 6355/PPOM/ESS/GR)

Profile

The Operations Manager will be responsible to implement a framework, which consists of a set of operating procedures and instructions that allow a smooth, reliable, efficient, safe, economical, and environmentally consistent manner of operation of the Power Plant. The Executive will report to the Power Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Generates operational plans (checklists, equipment test) according to production needs and ensures that systems are available and able to create the required output
• Supports plant management by providing data and recommendations to optimize technical systems, improve technical efficiency, reduce operational costs and improve operations effectiveness
• Establishes, calculates and follows-up technical operations KPI’s. Makes relevant reports
• Assures that the operating procedures and instructions are followed properly
• Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of the current production status and events
• Is responsible for negotiating external contracts on supplies and services to manage the operation budget
• Participates in the daily operations meeting, coordinates the daily dispatch meeting, and communicates all the necessary information on technical problems
• Manages stakeholders related to Plant operation (e.g. Energy Management team)
• Contributes to the Dynamic Risk Management (hazards detection, exposition identification, risks assessment, etc.), gives proposals and takes necessary actions
• Is responsible for the required competencies of the operating team and proposes the required training for it
• Ensures coordination of his group activities with H&S rules and with respect to environmental protection
• Acts in respect to H&S rules and to environment protection

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as an operation manager, in CCGT Thermal Power Plants with prior technical/ supervisory experience
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in CCGT power plants operation or construction
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Master’s degree in business administration or other disciplines will be a plus
• Strong communication skills both in Greek and English
• Proficiency use of MS Office tools
• In-depth experience and knowledge/technical expertise in power plant operations and maintenance with an understanding of the key drivers for safe, reliable, cost-effective and compliant operation
• Experience in project management with excellent leadership skills
• Business Acumen/Industry knowledge (regulated/non-regulated environment), including a broad understanding of the Greek Energy Market
• Ability to manage multiple priorities-effective prioritization of competing issues, recognizing relevant constraints and opportunities
• Effective communication to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization
• People management skills, including the ability to effectively coach others and hold employees accountable
• Openness and willingness to explore alternative approaches and willingness to drive change when needed
• Ability to lead the organization through change management initiatives
