Why volunteer with VSO?
As a VSO volunteer, you’ll join a global community of more than 40,000 volunteers who have been sharing their skills in developing countries since 1958.
VSO works closely with partner organisations, such as local NGOs, governments and teaching institutions, to identify the most critical issues and the solutions needed to tackle them. So wherever you are placed – in one of 25 countries across Africa and Asia – you can be sure your skills are in need.
As a volunteer, you’ll live and work within the local community – a unique opportunity to discover a new culture and build life-changing relationships. And all that while stretching yourself professionally and gaining valuable experience.
Volunteering overseas is a big commitment, but we’re here to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible. All volunteers receive a comprehensive support package: your costs are covered while in placement and you’ll have your own volunteer advisor throughout. Many of us at VSO have volunteered ourselves – so we know what it’s like.
